Hi, this is Bakataal Kato Writing.
It was St. Valentine’s Day Yesterday.
So I ‘m going to talk about Japanese St. Valentine’s Day today.
St.Valentine’s Day in Japan is quite different from other countries.
On St.Valentine’s Day In Japan, women give chocolates to men to confess their love.
So on that day, many boys are wondering if they can get chocolate today.
Also, many girls are wondering if the guy they love will receive their chocolate with real love.
However, for women who are grown up and working ,
it is an unreasonable day when they have to hand out a lot of “giri-choco” to men
they don’t like at their boss or business partners.
“Giri-choco” is chocolate sent out of politeness and a sense of duty,
whereas chocolate sent to someone you really like is called “honmei-choco”.
It is said that this custom in Japan was created by the chocolate and confectionary industries to sell chocolate,
and In addition, there is even a day called White Day when men who receive chocolates send them back to women.
White Day is on March 14, but that’s just nonsense!
Why don’t lovers just give gifts to each other on Valentine’s Day like they do in other countries!
In Japan, even St. Valentine’s Day is Galapagosized.
But, Foreigners who visit Japan do not have to follow this silly custom,
but I think it would be a good idea to take advantage of this opportunity to confess your feelings to your true love.
